Meet the Maker

Hello, I’m Emily. A jewellery designer from Devon, who creates jewellery using 100% recycled precious metals and ethically sourced gemstones. I also provide a repair service to allow you to continue wearing the jewellery you love.

I began making jewellery when I was at university studying Psychology in 2019. University is stressful, the assignments and exams were taking up all of my time and I wasn’t being kind to myself and allowing myself any down time. I felt that I needed to find something creative to help me de-stress, something that I would love doing and allow me to escape from reality. So I decided I needed to find something new that would motivate me to take some much need time away from the pressure of university. While I'm making my mind is focused on the task at hand and any worries I may have leaves me for a short period of time.

Once I finished my psychology degree I went back to work and created Milly Silver Studio to sell my jewellery as a side business. I believe that the psychology degree taught me more than I could have imagined. It really gave me the confidence I needed to explore something completely new. So I decided I wanted to pursue a career in jewellery design and making. I found a new opportunity as a bench jeweller for a local jewellers and have completed a diploma in silver jewellery and currently working on a diploma in fine jewellery.

Jewellery has an incredible power that allows people to express their unique style, boosting their confidence and bringing people together. My favourite part of making jewellery is that I am able to make one of the most important items in a married couples lives. Firstly the engagement ring and secondly the wedding rings. Wedding rings and engagement rings hold profound significance in relationships, symbolizing commitment, love, and partnership. The engagement ring marks the beginning of a journey, a promise of eternal devotion and the decision to build a life together. It embodies hope, excitement, and the anticipation of a shared future. As the relationship progresses to marriage, the wedding ring becomes a tangible representation of vows exchanged, a circle of unending love and fidelity. These rings serve as enduring reminders of profound bond between two individuals, encapsulating cherished memories and shared experiences, and serving as symbols of unity through life’s joys and challenges. They hold sentimental value beyond their material worth. becoming cherished heirlooms passed down through generations, encapsulating the enduring legacy of love.

Please get in touch by filling out a form and we will get back to you as soon as we can. I love hearing from you all and working with you to create the perfect piece of jewellery.

 Our Mission

Our mission at  EDJ is to provide a jewellery brand with the environment at the centre of all our decisions. It is so important to us that we minimise our impact on the environment as much as possible. We are always learning new ways of creating jewellery to ensure we run our business in the best way possible.

You can rest assured that we will only use recycled precious metals that is already in circulation. If we aren't using metal from jewellery that you want to repurpose we use metal that has been bought from a trusted dealer that sells 100% recycled precious metals. We also save and reuse any off cuts and shavings from metal we have in the studio.

The gemstones that we use in our designs come from either jewellery that we have bought to recycle the metal and gemstones or from trusted companies who share the same values and concerns about the environment and the importance of the people who work in the gemstone industry. Therefore, the gemstones that they stock are ethically sourced ensuring that all workers involved are cared for properly and paid well. They also reassure us that they reduce, reuse and recycle any waste that is created in their business. We will always do our research before purchasing to ensure that any new company we look to work with has an ethos that matches ours.

It is important to highlight however, that the gemstone industry has a long way to come before we can say it’s environmentally friendly as these stones are still being mined. By choosing to source these gems ethically we know that they are coming from smaller operations that have a smaller impact on the environment and in certain countries these companies have to restore the land that they have mined. They do this by filling in the hole they have created and often planting trees and plants to better restore the land. This reduces the impact on the environment massively. It is also extremely important to us that everyone involved in the gemstone industry is treated fairly and paid a fair wage.

We are continually learning about the impact we have on the environment and ways in which we can improve. We will continue to learn and improve our service to serve you and the environment in the best way possible.

If you or anyone you know have any information that you feel would be helpful we would be so grateful to hear from you. Please get in touch via the form on our contact page.

Step 1

Booking Your Free Video Call With Me

In this consultation video call we will discuss everything involved in a custom order including…

  • What it is you are looking for, such as the type of jewellery and the style of jewellery you like. Whether that is minimalistic and elegant or more of a chunky statement piece.

  • How often you will be wearing your jewellery as this will help me advise you on what metals and gemstones would work best. As some metals and gemstones are more hard wearing than others. However, this is entirely your design and your decision. We will just be offering you the knowledge you may need to choose the right materials and design for you.

  • Then we will discuss what metals you might go for.

  • If you would like a gemstone we will discuss which ones you’d like.

  • Whether or not you would like personalisation and engraving.

  • Any ideas you have about your design.

  • Finally we will discuss your budget.

We understand that it may be hard to put your visions into words, therefore we will ask you to put together a moodboard of photos that you like. This will give me more of an idea of what you are looking for, and will help with the design process.

If you are happy after the video call to go ahead with your bespoke order, we will then write you up a quote and will ask for a 50% non-refundable deposit. This quote will only be valid for 2 days as the prices of precious metals fluctuates on a daily basis. If it takes you longer than 2 days to make a decision a new quote will have to be written up according to the metal prices at that time.
This payment will be required in order to start the design process.
